This 200 square foot, one and one-half story sitting room addition is a tall yet cozy space bathed by morning and afternoon sunlight. The triangular window at the peak of the new cathedral ceiling mimics the slope of the existing roof and illuminates the sitting area and second floor den.
Structural collar ties support the ceiling fan and form the railing to the balcony. The whitewashed knotty Douglas fir ceiling adds drama to the light entering from the triangular window. A radiant heated stone floor with inlaid detail and a gas fireplace alleviated the need to extend the existing HVAC system.
